Simulation Program for the Annual Meeting of the Israel Society of Anesthesiologists, 2025

For residents, specialists, anesthesiologists (female and male),

We invite you once again this year to join a variety of simulations and workshops at the annual conference of the Israel Society of Anesthesiologists.
We view the conference as a valuable opportunity for all of us to meet, practice, exchange ideas and techniques in order to provide our patients with the best and safest care.

You are welcome to review the details of the simulations and workshops planned for the conference, specially designed for you by outstanding simulation professionals from across the country and the world, at the highest level. We encourage all conference participants to register for multiple simulations and workshops and enjoy the wide variety offered.

On Thursday (4/12/25) – you may register for an unlimited number of simulation sessions. POCUS and EEG workshops will be held concurrently – registration for both will not be possible.

On Friday (5/12/25) – you may register for up to 2 workshops only.

Sincerely,
Dr. Moshe Rucham

Anesthesia Safety Challenges

To err is human. Despite what we sometimes like to think, we are all still human. We and our colleagues have made and will make mistakes. How do we deal with them? How do we communicate the nature of the error to patients? To their families? To our peers? How do we trace the chain of error and how can we prevent the next one? A unique and highly relevant simulation station for every anesthesiologist.

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Vacile Recea and the Rambam Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

Traumatic Airway

You’ve been called to the trauma room – a young patient with neck trauma following an electric bike accident. Familiar and surprising challenges await. Do you have what it takes to save the patient?

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Osnat Cohen-Rosenboim and the Ichilov Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

Crush Injury in a Trapped Trauma Patient

You are called to evaluate a trapped trauma patient at a construction site. Upon arrival, you find the patient’s lower limbs pinned under a concrete pillar. Rescue is still far away – can you extract yourself (and the patient) from the situation?

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Shai Kropveld and the Soroka Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

POCUS – Cardiac

The patient in the OR is in deep shock – why?
Is it hypovolemia? Cardiogenic shock? Cardiac tamponade?
Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) is the next evolutionary step in our diagnostic capabilities. This workshop focuses on bedside TTE – transthoracic echo.

Suitable for both beginners and anesthesiologists looking to enhance their skills.

Duration: 50 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Omer Kaplan and the Beilinson Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

POCUS – Chest & Abdomen

A patient for urgent hip fracture repair arrives at triage with 85% oxygen saturation – why?
Another pre-op orthopedic patient complains of abdominal pain and fever – why?
This workshop focuses on lung and abdominal bedside ultrasound.

Suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.

Duration: 50 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Omer Kaplan and the Beilinson Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

EEG interpretation Seminar💡

For the first time in Israel: a unique seminar combining lectures and case studies with experts in this field, where you'll acquire practical tools for interpreting anesthetic depth using EEG monitoring. The focus is on real-time decision-making in the OR with real-life cases.

Duration: 80 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Yotam Weiss, Ichilov Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 70 NIS
Note: This seminar runs concurrently with the POCUS workshops – participation in both is not possible.

Cardiac Escape Room

Welcome to the cardiac operating room, where the monitor won’t stop beeping and blood pressure can’t be measured. You know how you got in – but will you know how to get out?

Simulation elements combined with puzzles and tasks to train for potential events in cardiac surgery and enhance unique cardiac anesthesia skills.

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Inbar Radayan-Tamaiev and the Beilinson Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

Obstetric Anesthesia Emergency

Another routine cesarean section. The baby is out and crying, then – tense silence. The mother gasps, looks around in panic, saturation drops, pulse rises, blood pressure disappears. The OR is on the brink of chaos. You’re the anesthesia team – every decision can save lives.

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Vered Dvir (Carmel) and Dr. Andrew Lee (Kaplan)
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

Regional Anesthesia Emergency

A patient with significant comorbidities arrives for surgery. The anesthesia team decides to avoid general anesthesia and perform regional instead. The block takes well, surgery starts. Everything seems calm until suddenly…

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Mohammad Jaber and the Shaare Zedek Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

Intraoperative Emergency

General anesthesia is considered safe and often uneventful. But sometimes, due to surgical or patient factors, the anesthesiologist faces complex situations that challenge their skills and knowledge. Come train for one of these scenarios – join the challenge!

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Luminita Eid and the Hadassah Ein Kerem Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

Neonatal Emergency

Small baby, big problems. It’s the middle of the night, a non-routine urgent surgery. Tiny dosages, outside the comfort zone. We will rehearse neonatal emergencies – expected but uncommon scenarios. A reminder: a baby is not just a small adult.

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Dana Karol and the Schneider Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

Patient Transport

You’ve just completed an emergency laparotomy on a gunshot victim. Now you need to transfer the patient to the ICU. Sounds simple, but will you maintain control when things go wrong?

Duration: 40 minutes
Presenters: Dr. Roni Hakim and the Emek Anesthesia Department
Participation Fee: 40 NIS

🧰 Friday 5.12

Advanced Airway Workshop

A hands-on workshop focusing on modern solutions for the difficult airway. Small-group training with advanced mannequins and simulators, led by anesthesiologists with years of airway management experience.

Participation Fee: 70 NIS

Regional Anesthesia Workshop

An in-depth look at common regional anesthesia techniques. Includes guided ultrasound practice and expanded options for regional blocks – a must for any anesthesiologist looking to strengthen a core skill.

Participation Fee: 70 NIS

TEE (Transesophageal Echo) Workshop

Intraoperative use of transesophageal ultrasound is increasingly essential in cardiac and other surgeries. Learn from experts and use advanced simulators to practice TEE skills.

Participation Fee: 70 NIS
